My Journey

Medicine.

I graduated cum laude from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock with a BS in Biology, Minor in Chemistry. I graduated with my MD from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2001. I then completed an internship and residency in Pediatrics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. I was named Intern of the Year in 2002, received the Donald E. Miller, MD Excellence in Research Award in 2004, and completed research which was published in Pediatrics in 2004. I am board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and currently in MOC.

Motherhood.

I am a mother of five children. Our oldest is our daughter, and then we have four sons. We home educate all of our children, and our oldest is beginning her third year at the university. We enjoy spending time exploring together in nature, listening to and making music, reading aloud great books, feasting and discussing everything from theology to baseball around the dinner table. I share many stories from my motherhood journey in Medicine & Motherhood.

Faith.

I grew up going to a nondenominational Christian church and was baptized at age nine. I did not understand the process of discipleship and spiritual formation as a child, so I remember feeling the need to head to the altar every Sunday. It wasn’t until my first year of medical school that I completely surrendered all of my life to Jesus. The past several decades have been a time of redemption, refining, growth, and gratitude for His amazing faithfulness. I share more about the beautiful pursuit of His love and receiving of His grace in Medicine & Motherhood.
